Americano, San Francisco (November 2008)

If Americano had not been offering the appetite stimulus menu this week, I probably would not have ventured across the bay to this heretofore unknown trattoria.

On a cooler evening like tonight, this soup was a good starter with the squash's sweetness tempered by freshly ground pepper.

After a few tasting menus, I forgot a normal entree's dimensions; when this plate arrived at the table, I appreciated its munificence.

These warm, fluffy confections were simple and delicious.

Pros: Freshly baked sourdough and generous portions
Cons: A bit too loud
